چکیده

Alternative counting methods for the Abbott “AusR1A” hepatitis-associated antigen test have been devised and evaluated. These methods involve solubilization of the tube-bound radiolabeled complex with glacial acetic acid, transfer of the eluate to a counting vial of choice, and measurement by either a gamma scintillation or a liquid scintillation system. These methods, when compared to the direct counting of the AusRIA tube for sera from more than 250 patients and controls, gave a correlation coefficient of 0.94 to 0.99. iodine-125 counting efficiencies averaged 65% both for direct counting of the AusRIA tube and for gamma counting of the eluate. By liquid scintillation counting, iodine-i 25 counting efficiency averaged 50%. This method avoids high background, chemiluminescence, and quench, and is easy to perform. By using glacial acetic acid to solubilize the labeled material, the eluate can be counted by various types of gamma counters as well as by liquid scintillation systems.

Hepatitis B core antigen: immunology and electron microscopy.

TWO DISTINCT VIRAL ANTIGENS ARE ASSOCIATED WITH THE HEPATITIS B VIRUS: the hepatitis B surface antigen (HB(s)Ag, Australia antigen) and the hepatitis B core antigen (HB(c)Ag). HB(s)Ag, purified from the serum of asymptomatic human HB(s)Ag carriers, and HB(c)Ag, purified from the liver of a chimpanzee acutely infected with hepatitis B virus, were examined by serological and immune electron micro...

Viral hepatitis, type B.

INTRODUCTION Hepatitis B virus (HBV) is a DNA virus which is highly host and organ specific; to date it has only been found to infect hepatocytes of man and of a few nonhuman primate species. Despite the continuing failure of virologists to find an in vitro system for propagating HBV, it has been possible to gain a great deal of information about the agent and about viral hepatitis, type B, as ...

Hepatitis B antigen in viral hepatitis in West London.

During the first 12 months of a total population survey 249 patients were seen with viral hepatitis. A total of 215 of these were tested for hepatitis B antigen (HB Ag) by radioimmunoassay and 32 (15%) were positive.More than five times as many men (27) as women (5) were HBAg positive and 19 of the men were between the ages of 20 and 39 years. There were only four drug addicts among those teste...

Proceedings: Hepatitis-associated-antigen-positive hepatitis in a tuberculosis unit.

An outbreak of hepatitis-associated-antigen-(HB Ag)-positive hepatitis in a hospital unit for the care of male patients with pulmonary tuberculosis is described. Sixty-four patients were studied of whom 37 were HB Ag positive. Hepatitis developed in at least 20 and was icteric in 11. The illness was mild, without fatality due to hepatitis and persistent jaundice did not occur. A carrier state d...

Application of radioimmunoassay technique for determination of antigen concentration in different cells with a new monoclonal antibody [Persian]

Introduction: Binding a monoclonal antibody to tumor associated antigens is an effective method for cancer therapy because these agents can specifically target malignant cells, in fact monoclonal antibodies are effective agents for diagnosis, grading and treatment of different kinds of cancers. Methods: In this research, a new monoclonal antibody against colon cancer cells was prepared an...
